We meet on the third sunday of each month in Room 6 immediately following the first and second services. We hold both meetings to allow everyone who is involved in Children's Ministry to be a part of the meeting.
This meeting in an opportunity for those serving to hear from Pastor Casey. Typically we discuss updates on children's ministry, curriculum; what the Lord may have placed his heart for that specific time. We talk about tips and ideas on how to minister to the children better and if there are any issues or troubled children that Pastor Casey and the leadership should know about.
March 2010
Our March meeting will be on Sunday, March 21st. I am hoping to have a lot to share from the conference. Mark your calendars we meet immediately following the first and second services in room 6!
Mark your calendars... Sheriff Patrick Crough will be here for a special session for all children's ministry, teen ministry, greeters and an other servants interested. The date is Saturday, April 17th. It will be a very intense and important message about protecting our children from predators.
We had a good meeting this Sunday, sorry if you didn't know about it. I did not send out a reminder email. I'll try to tighten up on that in March.
One of the things that I mentioned is that I am going to a Children's Pastors conference in March. MaryBeth and I will be leaving for San Diego on March 12th and returning on March 18th! We're looking forward to this event. Check out their web site if you're interested: http://www.incm.org/cpc.html It is held by the International Network of Children's Minstry. We'll be able to meet first hand the people who put together our curriculum, our VBS programs andeven the Kidologist Karl Bastian who I have gleaned a lot of good children's ministry stuff over the years.
We'll be treated to the musical talent of Go Fish, a children's ministry band plus Tim Hawkins - check him out on YouTube, you'll be in stitches!
Be praying for us as we're away that we would be refreshed, challenged and that our vision for Chldren's ministry would be renewed. Pray for the kids, and Pastor Dave and MaryAnn since they will be keeping an eye on them while we are away.
I was looking for some help with classes and Pinewood Derby set up. Most of this has been coordinated, but if you are available to help please let me know.
God bless you. Thanks for standing in the gap and serving the Lord by ministering to the children. Keep praying for your classes every opportunity that you get.
We had a great meeting this morning. I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas. I thought I'd jot down my thoughts so any of you that missed the meeting will know what we discussed. There are also a few links to various web sites that I wanted everyone to check out.
1. Looking Back on 2009
SUNDAY SCHOOL CURRICULUM
We did some research on the sunday school curriculum to make sure what we are using is meeting our needs. We found that the Sunday School curriculum is really a blessing and by far the best for our needs. We are still using David C. Cook's Bible-In-Life curriculum for the toddlers. We are using FaithWeaver for Sunday school. There are some great links to enhance this curriculum on our web site. You can find it under the Teacher Support links to the right.
We also started using FaithWeaver Friends on Sunday evenings. This dovetails with the lessons that we are teaching on Sunday morning. The kids really like it a lot.
I have three teen helpers, they are very involved in this class and it is great to have them help.
2. Thoughts for 2010!
I talked about Kidology in our last training day. Karl Bastian founded this ministy some years ago and he offers some real cool Children's Ministry tools. In january he is going to be offereing a few different curricula for FREE. I am going to look at that as a possible replacement for what we are doing in Kids church; please keep that in prayer.
Showing Kids Love
I subscribe to the Kidology podcast, it is typically about 20 minutes long. Recently therewas an awesome message that Karl shared about showing kids love. I saved a copy of it on this site for everyone to listen to. Go to the training page, or just click on the player and listen now. There are other valuable MP3 messages on the training page.

Outreach
We have been given an awesome opportunity to minister to the people at the Pines of Perinton. Russ and I are planning a monthly ministry on Saturday mornings. We'll have an opportunity to share a meal with them, worship and teach the Word. We are hoping to have a time specifically for children to hear the Word on their level. Keep this in prayer and let me know if you are interested in helping.
I believe we are being challendged by the Lord about outreach. Reaching children in ER and the surrounding towns. We hold VBS each summer but I have been disappointed that we are only getting a few kids from the village. I would like to do more to promote this to the surrounding area to get more kids that may not typically attend church.
Another summer outreach idea is a Backyard Bible Club. I would like to start promoting this as another way to minister to children who don't attend church. The idea is that families would host the bible club in their home it would be about an hour to hour and a half. We would hold a mini-VBS there and families would invite kids from their neighborhood to attend. Please pray for this and about how you can help with this outreach opportunity. It could be held in the mornings, afternoons or evenings... think about the possibility!
Keep these things in prayer, contact me with comments, questions or other ideas.
Thanks and God bless!

Wow, time flies. It's already February 2nd and I'm just getting this info updated. We had a brief meeting on Sunday, January 17th. We discussed the need for help in various areas of ministry to children. If you can help please check the Nursery/Toddler schedule located under our Resource link. You'll see many of the areas where we have a need.
Keep praying about VBS, outreach to ER and the Pines of Perinton. These are all important areas for 2010. Our first Pines of Perinton meeting only had a few people show up, no kids this time. We'll see how things go for February.
Please keep your classroom clean. Put away papers, utensils and trash. It goes a long way for the next group using the room.
Check out the video I put together from the children who attend our Sunday evening Kids Time class. You can see the link to "The Big Game" along the right hand side.
