Hey Kids!

We had a children’s ministry training day for our workers and teachers and I was talking to them about the word ”immediately”.  I thought I would share this with you.

It is interesting to me how we see this word used in the gospel of Mark.  In chapter 1 the disciples responded to Jesus ”immediately!”.  Look at verses 16-18 it says Jesus called them and “They immediately left their nets and followed Him.”  Then when He saw the sons of Zebedee in the boats fishing He called them and in verse 20 it says, “And immediately He called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants, and went after Him.“  There seems to be an immediacy to responding to Jesus.  The word immediate in the dictionary means “without lapse of time; without delay; instantly; at once”

If you were playing a video game or with Legos and Jesus came and said “Drop those pieces or drop that controller and follow Me!”  Would you do it IMMEDIATELY?  Are you the sort of immediate Christian that would respond like the disciples did?

In the early years of our country there were these men called Minutemen.  Minutemen were a small hand-picked elite force which were required to be highly mobile and able to assemble quickly.  Typically 25 years of age or younger, they were chosen for their enthusiasm, reliability, and physical strength.  The Minutemen were the first armed militia to arrive or await a battle.  As Christians we are God’s Minutemen, ready to serve in a moment’s notice!  This is for boys and girls, anyone ready to serve the Lord.  Acts 2;39 says, “The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off–for all whom the Lord our God will call.”  Have you heard the call from the Lord?  If so, did you respond?  The first response is to repent of your sins, confess them to the Lord and then ask Him into your life.  Then live for Jesus each day; pray to him and read your bible each day.  The Lord will respond by working in you to make you more like Jesus every day.  Then, when you calls you be ready to immediately respond.  You’ll be glad you did.

If this is the first time you’ve prayed like this please let your parents and me know.  My phone number and email address are listed right below.  God bless you.
