Hey Kids! March Article

JOB 2:10
"Shall we indeed accept good from God, and shall we not accept adversity?"

Job 34:12
"Surely God will never do wickedly, nor will the Almighty pervert justice."

We are looking at the life of Job during this month in Kids Church and there are many life lessons that we can learn from this man. Someone that we would not want to trade lives with, yet someone we can learn from. He asks some powerful questions and comes up with some deep wisdom as he ponders his life.

We are so quick to expect everything good and easy from God. As soon as things get difficult we question why God has abandoned us. Has He abandoned us or is He giving us an opportunity to trust Him more?

We are so used to microwaveable meals and fast food restaurants that we expect a quick response from the Lord as well, but He doesn’t always work that way. James 1:2-3 says, “count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.”

We are all tested from time to time and this testing, if we allow it to do its work will produce patience in our lives. The bible says the rain falls on the just and the unjust. This means that all of us have good and bad things happen, but what we do with the good and the bad is up to our own response. Can we trust the Lord with all of our hearts to do what he has promised to do?

Look at the second verse from Job that is recorded above. God doesn’t do wickedly or pervert justice. How can a loving, holy God pervert justice? His justice is fair and true. He has a better perspective or understanding of life than any of us do. If we are really honest with ourselves we’ll see that the Lord knows us better than we know ourselves. We may feel that our circumstances aren’t fair… we may question why someone else has more money, or success than you. Does that mean God isn’t fair? He is a just God and knows what is best for us. I have heard many stories of people who had nothing and yet were far more happier than the people who live in huge houses and drive brand new vehicles. There is something about trusting in the Lord for everything that humbles us. What about the fact that we all sin? God’s justice says we should go to Hell. But because of His mercy Jesus died in our place, now when we are forgiven God is faithful and just to cleanse us from all sin! (1 John 1:9)
