Our Vision
Equipping Teachers. Training Children .that we all may mature into the full stature of Christ
Our Mission is to Provide:
- A place where children can be trained up in the knowledge of God's Word.
- A place where children can learn to worship Jesus in spirit and in truth.
- A place where children can bring their friends who can learn of the saving power of Jesus and have opportunities to accept Him as their Savior.
- Opportunities for children to serve in ministry.
- A safe, secure, and loving environment in which each child feels a warm sense of belonging and parents feel comfortable in leaving their children with our capable teachers and care providers.
- Support to parents in their responsibility for the spiritual development and growth of their children.
- A diversified team of volunteers for leadership, teaching and discipleship and training that each person may excel in the area which they have been called.
- Opportunities for relationships to form among parents, leaders, and children through periodic trips, gatherings and activities.
- A place for children to enjoy fun and fellowship with others their age.
- A place where everyone wants to be apart; including teachers, helpers, and parents.
That the children may develop a lifestyle that is built on a passionate relationship with Jesus and become future leaders in the church and in reaching out to surrounding communities with ministry that introduces children and families to Christ so that we may fulfill the Great Commission.
Our Purpose
The primary purpose of our ministry is to lead children to Christ through the Word of God in an environment in which their parents are confident in knowing all is well with their child. We desire to make God's Word real in their lives by teaching them at their level and at the same time not undermining what they can grasp.
We want to see God's Word written in their hearts so that they will never turn away from Him. We also want the time they spend here to be the best time they have all week. We believe all children are a gift from God, so we want our ministry to provide His best and highest for them.
Our Philosophy
It is our goal at in this children's ministry to see more and more people in the church catch the vision of ministering to children. More people come to know the Lord as a child than at any other stage of life; every person involved in our ministry understands that they are soul winners for Christ. It is our belief that each moment spent loving, nurturing, and ministering to our children changes not only their lives, but ours also.
It is our confidence that our prayers and faith will allow God to use us to instill in our children the certainty that He loves them and is there for them without end.
We strive to make each child feel welcome and important. God's Word tells us that we have all been made in His image and likeness and that we are precious to Him. Your child will receive just as much attention as any other.
AGE APPROPRIATE
Each of our classes are designed to be age appropriate; this is one of the reasons why we have our classes structured by age; children are in classes of their peers as they learn and grow in Christ together. We have the classes assigned by age but we ask that children move up in the fall of each year so that we can better plan for our classes and account for how much curriculum is needed for each class.
SECURITY
We have a strict policy fro those who minister to our children. Applicants must have attended Koinonia for at least 6 months prior to applying, and then they have to go through our application process. Once they are approved, we will assign them in the area that is best suited to their ministry interests and our needs for staffing.
Upon arrival to class all children must be signed in by their parents/guardian. We do this for all ages up to twelve in Kids Church . The same person who signs them in should sign them out. Children from nursery through age 4 will receive a numbered wristband, parents will be asked to put on a matching wristband and only the person wearing the wristband can sign out their child. We do all of this for the safety of your child.
MINISTERING TO CHILDREN
BABIES
The nursery staff sees their role as more than just baby-sitting but it is ministry to these little children. From the moment your child enters the arms of a caregiver, they instantly have experienced the acceptance of God. While your little one is in our Nursery, they are being held, comforted, rocked into heavenly peace, smiled at, played with, sang to, and the list goes on. Even more so, we pray over your child, speak the life giving Word of God into them, and show them the loving-kindness of the Lord.
TODDLERS AND PRESCHOOLERS
We have separate classes for toddlers and preschoolers and have curriculum to minister to children at their age level. The toddlers' class is a more active learning environment. As you know, toddlers have a very short attention span. Our teachers focus on teaching them through play, through their stories and through their craft and snack. Each child brings home their own masterpiece to show Dad and Mom what they learned. We encourage parents to place their artwork in the child's room on the refrigerator so you can go over it again during the week and reinforce to them what they learned.
The preschool class has a bit more structure than the toddler class. The children gather with the other classes for combined worship and then return to their class. They learn about the scriptures and biblical application through stories that are illustrated by flannel graph characters. The children have small hands on projects they work on to enhance the learning. They can bring these papers home to read over with their parents.
ELEMENTARY CLASSES
We have classes for our elementary children to learn and grow in the Lord together.
WHAT CURRICULUM DO YOU USE?
We are using David C. Cook's Bible-in-Life Curriculum. This curriculum works well with our class structure. Cook Communications is committed to equipping teachers with everything they need in order to confidently and successfully engage their students with deep truth, encourage their students toward bold faith, and to see changed lives come out of their classes . In addition, as the name implies Bible-in-Life helps each student put Bible truths to work where it counts-in their everyday life. We continue to re-evaluate our curriculum throughout the year to determine if it continues to meet our needs.
Another blessing is that proceeds from the purchase of this curriculum go to further the gospel in other countries. Our purchase enables Cook Communications Ministries International to provide Bibles and Christian literature to people in more than 150 languages in 65 countries. A portion of revenues from all Cook sales helps fund this international outreach.
